Ganesh Ram Khorwal Date of Birth 17th August 1907 Date of Death 20th November 1946 Nationality Indian Gender Male Occupation Social Reformer and Monastic Swami Aatma Ram Lakshay was a great legendary personality in the history of (Raiger) dalit community. Who vehemently opposed in justice being meted art to the downtrodden and the untouchability as well as, he had so many talents in himself, that it is not easy to explained his contribution to the dalit community in a single sentence. He was a social reformer, freedom fighter, an intellectual, a spiritual leader and an enlightened one. Swami Aatma Ram Lakshay was born 17th August 1907 (Bhaderpad Krishan Janamastmi) in the village Sheodaspur, Distt- Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan (India). His father’s name was Shri Ganesh Ram Khorwal, his mother’s name was Smt.Panchi Devi Khorwal, his childhood’s name was kanhaya lal, his parents died when he was just Five years old. Kanhiya lal started his education at home in Delhi. At the time of early 20th century the social system was very cruel and the low caste (Dalit) people were not allowed to go the temples for prayer, to school for study, to enter into villages in a daylight and were forced to live in huts far away rather than in houses in villages. He felt the sting of untouchability, his heart melted in pity when he saw those who, born as men, lived worst than animals, without the respect and the justice. These pain very deep impressions on the young boy’s mind. The boy felt untouchability was a black mark on the Hindu Dharma; he made up his mind to remove it. This was a great decision in his life, a decision taken after deep thought. He was thought that every men should receive freedom, education, respect and the justice. He was mostly time spend in finding a Guru, who could provide him guidance and correctly direct him toward the path of spirituality and social reform. The search of kanhiya lal came to end when he met Swami Gyan Swroop Ji Maharaj at Ram Dwara Ashram, Tanda Adam Hydrabad Sind (Pakistan) in 1937. Kanhiya lal formerly joint the monastic Swami order by taking his vows. As a guru swami gyan swroop ji maharaj thought him all religions are true and service to man was the most effective Worship of GOD. Thereafter he completed his diksha, he, thus, became Swami Aatma Ram. Aatma Ram started his journey in northern India for a spearheaded the fight against man made discrimination based on caste, colour, or creed and preached the lofty ideas of socialism secularism, equality, fraternity and freedom of India. He was suffered because of this, he also fought hard against such differences. He plays important role in create awareness against British rule through Non-violence movement by satsang from village to village. Swami Aatma Ram Lakshay decided to spread his knowledge and awareness amongst people. In November 1944 Swami Aatma Ram established the Akhil Bharatiya Reiger Mahashaba. The Mahashaba was given honour to him “LAKSHAY” at the convention of Reiger Mahashaba in dausa Rajasthan 1944 he was also honoured for serving humanity selflessly, untouchability, awareness for education and social reforms through out his life. In 1946 Swami Aatma Ram Lakshay was organized 2nd convention Akhil Bharatiya Reiger Mahashaba in Jaipur. Today Mahasabha is considered to be one of the largest volunteer based social reformer organization in India. Swami Aatma Ram Lakshay left this world on 20th November 1946 to became one with the supreme lord. He died in Jaipur.
